Discovery and Competition
This is the last blog I wrote, and it was before my TransactShon performance at the weekend. I’ve done that now, and I guess I will write another blog about it, but let’s just pretend it hasn’t happened yet and imagine that we are in the moments of a week or so ago.
So, Tina had to out herself to someone connected with work. Eek! As you will know, if you have read my other recent blogs, I am performing at TransActShon this coming weekend. Having very recently had a severe cold, that’s freaking me out a bit – getting my voice to function properly, especially the higher parts of my range. I also keep forgetting bits of songs which isn’t very helpful – I put it down to senility! But I digress. Part of my preparation has been to get some heels dancing lessons, and I have done a few, including one private lesson, but the others within public classes, in boy mode, but with my stilettos on. Of course, we all know there is a risk with doing public things! So, inevitably, fate found the temptation too great last Tuesday, and during the lesson it gradually dawned on me that I knew one of the girls taking the lesson with me: she had worked in my office for a couple of years. It gradually dawned on her too (I could see her quizzical look!), and bags were next to each other, so I was unable to avoid her at the end of a lesson. I didn’t panic. During the lesson I decided that the only way to keep any control over the situation was to honestly talk to her at the end. What I didn’t want was her catching up with friends from my office and saying ‘guess who I met at my heels lesson’. Then it inevitably would go viral, with all kinds of speculation (not that the speculation would necessarily be more extreme than the reality). So I sat down and had a wee chat with her. She was just lovely, and what’s more, very impressed with the pictures of Tina I showed her. She promised that what happened at a dancing lesson stays at the dancing lesson and I made a new friend in the process. Of course only time will tell whether it leaks out, but I have no reason not to be optimistic, and I made a lovely new friend too. I guess the moral is don’t panic, be honest and make a connection in the hope that respect wins out.
Second thing is that I have entered the Sexy Legs competition at Glamour Boutique USA. I saw some online friends doing it, so I felt I had to, in my opinion my legs being my best feature! I have never been a great one for competitions, as usually these things are just down to taste and/or whatever support you are prepared to drum up the effort to canvas for. So this is part of my effort. Having seen a couple of the other entries I wonder what snowball’s chance I have, but anyway, here is the link! You can vote once for each of my three pics (you can click through the links to each pic, and you can vote for each one - but once only for each. Please vote for the first one at least, though, as it already has the best total of the three). Just a bit of fun I guess… These are the pics.
